Installing and using Adobe® Acrobat® CE & ME in localized languages

Welcome to the Adobe® Acrobat® 5.0.5 World Languages Read Me.

Please read the help files and documentation that shipped with your Operating System to understand how to set up the correct environment to work with Adobe Acrobat CE & ME in different world languages, especially non Roman languages.

Below are basic steps that you might follow for setting up the correct environment under Windows XP and Mac OS 9.x. Depending upon your needs and other applications that may be installed on your system, you might need to take additional steps.   This is only an example.

Windows XP

  1. Open Regional and Language Options in Control Panel.
  2. On the Languages tab, under Supplemental language support, insure that the language files for this language version of the Acrobat Reader are installed. If not, install them before installing Acrobat Reader.
  3. On the Advanced tab, under Language for non-Unicode programs, click the language version of non-Unicode programs that will be used.
  4. On the Regional Options tab, under Standards and formats, set the language that you would like to work with.

Mac OS 9.x

On Mac OS 9 install the Apple Language Kit correctly for the language you want to work with.
